  • 2 cups whole milk or half and half
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4 cups frozen peas
  • ¼ cup heavy cream optional

Instructions
 

  • Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a medium saucepan until bubbly but not browned.
  • Whisk in the flour and optional garlic powder until smooth, cooking for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens, about 6 minutes.
  • Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  • Add the frozen peas and stir until heated through, about 4 minutes.
  • If desired, stir in heavy cream for added richness and adjust seasonings as needed.
  • Serve garnished with extra pepper or fresh herbs if preferred.
