  • 1 baking dish to bake the cabbage rolls
  • 1 foil to cover dish while baking

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sour cream for serving

Instructions
 

  • Boil a large pot of water and blanch cabbage leaves until soft; drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, dill, and parsley; mix thoroughly.
  • Lay a cabbage leaf flat, place a spoonful of the filling at one end, then roll tightly, tucking in the sides to seal.
  • Mix tomato sauce with 1 cup of water and season to taste.
  • Spread some sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down; pour remaining sauce over them.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Use sour cream when serving for added creaminess.
  • Can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Leftovers reheat well in the oven or microwave.
