- 6 slices brioche or challah bread
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- butter or cooking spray for greasing
- maple syrup powdered sugar, or berries for serving
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a standard muffin tin generously.
Cut each bread slice into quarters and gently press 3 to 4 pieces into each muffin cup to form a cup shape.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cups, allowing the custard to soak into the bread.
Lightly press the bread down to ensure full absorption of the custard.
Bake for 22 to 25 minutes until the cups are puffed, golden, and set in the center.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before removing from the muffin tin.
Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.
- Mix brioche and challah for richer taste.
- Make ahead and reheat in oven.
- Add chocolate chips or nuts for extra flavor.
