Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme minced
  • 12 sweet rolls
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish optional

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté onions until soft and golden, about 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Stir in minced thyme, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Slice the sweet rolls horizontally without separating them fully, placing the bottom halves in an 11x7 baking dish.
  • Layer half of the provolone cheese on the rolls, then add roast beef and caramelized onions, topping with remaining cheese and the roll tops.
  • Mix melted butter with onion soup mix and brush evenly over the rolls.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake another 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Prepare au jus according to package instructions while sliders bake.
  • Serve sliders warm with the au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Use sweet Hawaiian rolls for best flavor.
  • Substitute provolone with mozzarella if desired.
  • Store leftovers covered in refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in oven to maintain bread texture.
  • Garnish with parsley for a fresh touch.
