Ingredients
  

  • 1 9- inch chocolate pie crust
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 21 ounces cherry pie filling
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip thawed
  • cups semi-sweet mini chocolate chips divided
  • Maraschino cherries for decoration optional

Instructions
 

  • Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a medium bowl until light and creamy.
  • Use a spatula to stir in the cherry pie filling, then fold in Cool Whip until well combined.
  • Fold in 1 cup of mini chocolate chips evenly into the filling.
  • Spread the filling evenly in the prepared chocolate pie crust.
  • Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours to allow the pie to set.
  • Before serving, top the pie with dollops or swirls of Cool Whip, remaining chocolate chips, and maraschino cherries if desired.

Notes

  • Use a 16-ounce tub of Cool Whip to have extra for topping.
  • Make sure cream cheese is softened and Cool Whip thawed to avoid lumps.
  • Place pie crust in foil pan inside a glass dish for easier transport.
