Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb shrimp fresh or thawed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 slices sourdough or multigrain bread
  • optional toppings: cilantro red onion, lime wedges

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Season shrimp with smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook shrimp in skillet for 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked and crispy.
  • Mash avocado in a bowl with lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Toast bread slices until golden brown and crispy.
  • Spread avocado mash evenly on toasted bread.
  • Top with blackened shrimp and garnish with optional toppings.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Prepare avocado mash ahead and store with lime juice on top to keep fresh.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp for best texture and flavor.
