Description

So you need a dessert that looks like you spent hours in the kitchen but actually requires zero baking skills? Meet your new party trick: Oreo Mud Pie Chill. This bad boy is basically layers of chocolatey heaven that sits in your fridge doing all the work while you binge Netflix. We’re talking crushed Oreos, silky chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped cream, and more Oreos because why not? It’s the dessert equivalent of a warm hug, except cold and way more satisfying. My sister-in-law literally asked me for the recipe three times during dessert because she couldn’t believe something this good came from my kitchen. Spoiler alert: it’s foolproof.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Oreo Crust:

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies, divided
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • Pinch of salt (trust me on this)

For the Chocolate Layer:

  • 2 boxes (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Toppings:

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • Extra Oreo cookies for crushing
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips
  • Maraschino cherries (optional, but why not?)

Instructions

Step 1: Crush Those Cookies

Take about 20 Oreos and crush them up — I like using a food processor, but a rolling pin and some anger works too.

Mix the crushed cookies with melted butter and a pinch of salt.

Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 pan or large trifle dish. Make it nice and even.

Pop it in the fridge while you work on the next layer.

Step 2: Pudding Paradise

Whisk together both boxes of pudding mix with the cold milk until thick (about 2 minutes of serious whisking).

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until you get soft peaks.

Fold half of the whipped cream into the pudding — this makes it extra fluffy and rich.

Spread this chocolate heaven over your Oreo crust.

Step 3: The Fluffy Stuff

Spread the container of whipped topping over the pudding layer — go edge to edge, people.

Crush up about 10 more Oreos and sprinkle them all over the top.

Add your chocolate shavings, mini chips, or whatever makes your heart happy.

Step 4: Chill and Thrill

Cover with plastic wrap and let this beauty chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but overnight is even better.

The longer it sits, the more the flavors meld together and the easier it is to cut clean slices.

Step 5: Serve and Watch People Lose Their Minds

Cut into squares and prepare for the compliments.

Pro tip: Dip your knife in warm water between cuts for cleaner slices.

Notes

  • Drizzle some hot fudge or caramel sauce on top because life’s short
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you’re feeling extra
  • Serve with coffee or cold milk for the ultimate combo
  • Garnish with fresh berries if you want to pretend it’s healthy
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
