  • Author: Tyla

Description

Say hello to the ultimate cool-girl drink: the Iced Brown Sugar Matcha Latte. It’s earthy, creamy, lightly sweet, and absolutely stunning layered in a glass (seriously, it’s Instagram-worthy). The deep caramel vibes from the brown sugar syrup cozy up perfectly to the grassy matcha, and a splash of milk brings it all together. It’s fancy-coffee-shop energy you can whip up at home in like 5 minutes — for a fraction of the price.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 tsp high-quality matcha powder

  • 23 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark, your call)

  • 2 tbsp hot water (for the syrup)

  • 1/4 cup hot water (for the matcha)

  • 3/4 cup milk of choice (oat, almond, whole — live your truth)

  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Brown Sugar Syrup
In a small cup, mix the brown sugar with 2 tablespoons hot water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.

Step 2: Whisk the Matcha
In a separate small bowl or jar, whisk the matcha with 1/4 cup hot (not boiling) water until smooth and frothy. No clumps allowed! A bamboo whisk (chasen) is ideal, but a regular small whisk works too.

Step 3: Build Your Drink
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour in the brown sugar syrup first so it sits at the bottom.

Step 4: Add the Milk
Slowly pour your milk over the ice and syrup, letting it create that gorgeous layered look.

Step 5: Top with Matcha
Gently pour the whisked matcha over the back of a spoon (or just slowly pour it straight in) to float it on top of the milk.

Step 6: Stir and Sip
When you’re ready, swirl it all together and sip away on the best iced latte of your life.

Notes

  • Dust a little extra matcha powder or cinnamon on top for fancy vibes.

  • Serve it with a buttery croissant, a slice of banana bread, or a couple of oat cookies for peak cozy energy.

  • Try it with vanilla sweet cream instead of plain milk for an extra luxe treat.
