Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ cups cooked rice (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
2. Sauté the Meat & Onion
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Add onions and garlic, cooking for another 3 minutes.
3. Make the Sauce
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Blanch the Cabbage
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the chopped cabbage and cook for 5 minutes, until slightly softened. Drain well.
