Description
This Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy is a simple, comforting, and delicious meal made with just a few ingredients. The slow cooker does all the work, leaving you with tender, flavorful chicken smothered in a rich, savory gravy. Perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet (1 oz) chicken gravy mix
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional, for color)
- ½ cup sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Slow Cooker
Lightly grease the inside of your Crock Pot. Place the chicken breasts in an even layer at the bottom.
2. Make the Gravy Mixture
In a bowl, whisk together cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. Pour the mixture over the chicken.
3. Cook on Low or High
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shreds.
4. Shred the Chicken
Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the Crock Pot, then stir it into the gravy. If using sour cream, stir it in now for extra creaminess.
5. Serve and Enjoy
Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or biscuits. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Use Chicken Thighs: They stay even more tender and juicy.
- Make It Creamier: Add ½ cup of heavy cream or sour cream before serving.
- Thicker Gravy: Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water, stir in, and let cook for 10 more minutes.
- Add Veggies: Toss in mushrooms, peas, or carrots for extra flavor.
