Description
Alright, so imagine taking everything you love about a juicy cheeseburger and crispy French fries from your favorite fast food joint and turning it into a casserole that’s basically comfort food paradise. This Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole is what happens when you want burger and fries but in one glorious, cheesy, oven-baked dish that the whole family will devour. We’re talking seasoned ground beef with all those classic burger flavors, layers of crispy French fries, pickles (yes, pickles!), and enough melted cheese to make you question your life choices in the best way possible. It’s kid-approved, ridiculously easy to throw together, and perfect for those nights when you want something that feels indulgent but doesn’t require you to stand over a grill or deep fryer. This is basically a hug from Ronald McDonald but way better.

- 1/2 cup dill pickle slices, chopped
For the Toppings Bar:
- 1 cup shredded lettuce

- 1/2 cup diced red onion

- Ketchup and mustard for drizzling
- Special sauce (if you’re fancy)
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional but fun)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Grease a 9×13 baking dish — this is where the magic happens.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion together until beef is browned and onion is softened, about 8-10 minutes.
Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Drain excess fat — we want flavorful, not swimming in grease.
Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes so all those flavors meld together.
Taste and adjust — it should taste like a really good burger patty.
In a medium bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard.
This might look weird, but trust the process — it’s basically special sauce meets creamy goodness.
Spread the seasoned beef mixture evenly in the bottom of your greased baking dish.
Drizzle the creamy sauce over the beef and spread it around.
Sprinkle with chopped pickles (don’t skip this — they add that authentic burger flavor).
Top with half the cheddar and all the American cheese.
Arrange frozen French fries in a single layer on top — pack them in there.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
Sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese and bake for another 5-10 minutes until melted.
If you want extra crispy fries, broil for the last 2-3 minutes (watch carefully!).
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving — this helps everything set up.
Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and extra pickles.
Drizzle with ketchup and mustard like you would a burger.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds if you’re feeling extra.
Notes
Serve straight from the casserole dish — it’s casual and fun.
Have a toppings bar so everyone can customize their portion.
Cold soda, milkshakes, or beer complete the fast food experience.
Leftover casserole makes an incredible breakfast with a fried egg on top.
