Description
Apple fritter bites are like your favorite fall fair treat—only mini, crispier, and easier to eat by the dozen. These little golden nuggets are packed with chunks of real apple, coated in a cinnamon-spiced batter, deep-fried until perfectly puffed, and drenched in a sweet vanilla glaze. They’re everything you love about classic apple fritters but in snackable, poppable form. No giant frying vat needed, no yeast-rising patience required—just warm, cozy apple magic in 30 minutes flat.
Ingredients
For the fritters:
– 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best), peeled and diced small
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup sugar
– 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– Pinch of salt
– 1/3 cup milk
– 1 egg
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 tbsp melted butter
– Vegetable oil for frying
For the glaze:
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2 tbsp milk
– 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Make the batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In another small bowl, beat together the milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples. The batter should be thick—almost like apple-studded drop biscuit dough.
Step 2: Heat the oil
Pour about 2 inches of oil into a deep pan or pot and heat to 350°F (175°C). Line a plate with paper towels for draining.
Step 3: Fry the bites
Using a cookie scoop or two spoons, drop heaping teaspoons of batter into the hot oil, 4–5 at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side, turning gently until they’re deep golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on the paper towel-lined plate.
Step 4: Glaze ‘em
While the bites are still warm, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip or drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and let it set slightly before digging in (or not—no judgment).
Notes
– Dust with powdered sugar instead of glazing for a lighter finish
– Serve with warm caramel sauce for dipping
– Pair with spiced cider or a hot cup of coffee for full cozy effect
– Toss in cinnamon sugar for a donut-style coating
