Description
Banana chips in the air fryer? Oh yes. These crispy little bites are the perfect answer to your mid-afternoon snack cravings. They’re sweet, simple, and way healthier than the deep-fried store-bought kind. All you need are ripe (but not mushy) bananas, a little oil, and a touch of seasoning. Pop them in the air fryer, and boom—you’ve got golden, crunchy banana chips with zero guilt. Plus, they’re ridiculously easy to make and store like a dream.
Ingredients
2 ripe bananas (yellow with a few spots—firm but not too soft)
1 tsp coconut oil or avocado oil
Optional: pinch of salt, cinnamon, or chili powder for a twist
Non-stick cooking spray (optional, if needed)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Bananas
Peel and thinly slice the bananas into 1/8-inch rounds. Try to keep the slices uniform so they cook evenly.
Step 2: Lightly Oil and Season
In a small bowl, gently toss the banana slices with coconut oil to coat. If you’re adding salt, cinnamon, or chili powder, sprinkle it on now and give everything another gentle mix.
Step 3: Arrange in the Air Fryer
Spray the air fryer basket lightly if sticking is a concern. Lay the banana slices in a single layer—no overlapping. You might need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Step 4: Air Fry to Perfection
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes. Flip the slices halfway through. Keep a close eye on them during the last few minutes—they can go from golden to burnt fast.
Step 5: Cool and Crunch
Once golden and crisp, remove the chips and let them cool on a wire rack or plate. They’ll crisp up more as they cool. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Notes
Sweet: Add maple syrup or sprinkle a little brown sugar and cinnamon before air frying
Savory: Try smoked paprika, garlic powder, or everything bagel seasoning
Spicy: A dash of cayenne or chili powder brings the heat
Tropical: Dust with coconut sugar and lime zest for a beachy twist
